Requirements That Cubans Must Meet to Travel to Nicaragua
Cubans can travel to Nicaragua without a visa, but there are requirements they must meet.
Background
As of November 22, 2021, the visa requirement for Cuban citizens wishing to travel to Nicaragua was eliminated. The Nicaraguan government made this decision in response to the significant number of visa applications from Cubans who have relatives in Nicaragua. Also with the aim of promoting commercial exchange and mutual tourism between both nations.
Requirements
Cubans traveling to Nicaragua must show these documents before boarding and upon arrival in Nicaragua:
- Round-trip ticket
- Valid passport with a validity of at least six months from the date of entry into Nicaragua
- COVID-19 vaccination certificate
- Hostel reservation indicating where the person will stay in Nicaragua
Upon arrival in Nicaragua, the purpose of the trip must be declared to the immigration authorities. The most common travel purposes among Cubans traveling to Nicaragua are tourism and family visits. You must also pay for a tourist card worth 10 dollars.
Vaccination certificate
The vaccination certificate must show that you have a complete vaccination schedule against COVID-19. You can present the one used in Cuba to register each vaccination, but it must be stamped by a hospital or polyclinic. You can also present the digital certificate issued by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba.
Tips
The immigration authorities will ask you some questions when you arrive in Nicaragua, especially the reason for the trip, your profession, the place where you will stay, and the date of return. Learn this data and show peace of mind. It is a routine check-up in all countries.
Keep the tourist card, because it is the guarantee that you are legally in Nicaragua and you must present it to the Nicaraguan immigration authorities when leaving the country.
